I know yogic people sometimes operate on a different level of any given situation, and that may be hilarious to some who do not practice, but for the first time in my life I have a teacher. I’ve been going to classes since 2007 and never really felt a connection to the instructor- as long as I was sweating I left happy. Perhaps it’s just a pivotal time in my life where the guidance is welcome, but I find myself eager by the time Monday and Tuesday are around as I wait for my Gina fix on Wednesday nights. She has the ability to do something I’ve never achieved as a teacher; she caters to all abilities and adjusts each class according to who attends. One of the things I like about yoga is that every position can be modified-to lessen or increase the effort necessary- and yet it’s still challenging, awakening, and empowering. It’s given me lofty ideas of how important awareness is, and you may think it’s silly but if you find yourself not agreeing with life then I suggest you join me this evening.
Or, you can also check out this post from my studio’s blog on coping with stress in healthy ways. It seems like common sense, but these days we’re so overstimulated that a short reminder goes a long way sometimes…
